Alec Baldwin finally surrenders cellphone to police in ‘Rust’ probe
The head armorer on "Rust" says the fatal shooting would never have happened if she was in the church with Alec Baldwin and Halyna Hutchins … according to a new lawsuit.
According to the suit, filed by attorney Jason Bowles, Hannah claims she loaded the gun used in the church scene with what she believed were dummy rounds, and gave the gun to assistant director Halls, who told her he would be sitting with the gun during rehearsal.
Hannah claims she left the church, and within 15 minutes, Halls handed Baldwin the firearm. That’s when Halls called out "cold gun" … signifying it was not loaded with live rounds.
In the docs, Hannah claims it was not a scheduled rehearsal with Baldwin, and it was protocol for Halls to inform her if Baldwin was going to be filming or practicing the gun move. She says that didn’t happen.
Instead, Hannah says Alec began practicing the cross draw from his shoulder holster to get the proper camera angles with Halyna … and that’s when the shooting happened.
She claims Alec would have learned safe gun practices with the cross draw, but he never responded to her request to train him on that move.
Hannah also says she would never have let Alec point a gun at Halyna — but she wasn’t in the church to do so.
Gorence told Guthrie the revolver was left on a cart unattended from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the day of the shooting. The ammunition was left in a “prop truck,” he added.
Guns on set normally were locked in a safe, Gorence said.
The prop truck “was completely unattended at all times, giving someone access and opportunity,” he said. “The tray was outside the church for over two hours after [Gutierrez-Reed] had prepped them for what was going to be an afternoon filming session.”
He said there were emails transferred back and forth between Hannah and him where she showed him different styles
"He was inside the church then, Hannah was outside the church having to do her prop duties." https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/584767-rust-armorers-father-says-hes-not-worried-about-investigation

"Joel said he was looking over the shoulder of [Hutchins], when he heard what sounded like a whip and then loud pop."
Joel then vaguely remembers [Hutchins] complaining about her stomach and grabbing her mid-section. Joel also said [Hutchins] began to stumble backwards and she was assisted to the ground." https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-59035483
The insider claimed: “The camera was facing Alec who was shooting in the cameras general direction during a rehearsal scene that was being recorded.
"The cameras captured Alec shooting but Halyna and Joel were behind the camera so I don’t think the cameras captured them being shot.”
However, “cameras, lights and props were damaged” from the gunfire with “broken glass was everywhere,” so it is unclear if the footage would be salvable. https://www.the-sun.com/entertainment/3914033/alec-baldwin-shooting-captured-camera-gun-killed-cinematographer/
