U.S. State Department claims the Russians are spreading disinfo about the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine

The Biden Administration is having a tough time getting people to take the COVID-19 vaccine. Especially the Pfizer one. But who would have ever thought the government would shill for Pfizer.

“Russian intelligence agencies have mounted a campaign to undermine confidence in Pfizer Inc.’s and other Western vaccines, using online publications that in recent months have questioned the vaccines’ development and safety, U.S. officials said,” according to a report out of the Wall Street Journal. “An official with the State Department’s Global Engagement Center, which monitors foreign disinformation efforts, identified four publications that he said have served as fronts for Russian intelligence.”

“The websites played up the vaccines’ risk of side effects, questioned their efficacy, and said the U.S. had rushed the Pfizer vaccine through the approval process, among other false or misleading claims,” the report maintains. “Though the outlets’ readership is small, U.S. officials say they inject false narratives that can be amplified by other Russian and international media.”

This comes as Norway raises concern over Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.

“Norway has raised concerns about Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine safety after 29 elderly people with serious underlying health conditions have died after receiving the shot,” Pharmaceutical Technology reports. “Bloomberg noted that even though it is not clear when the deaths happened, the country has inoculated as many as 42,000 individuals and concentrated on those at higher risk of contracting Covid-19, which includes the elderly.”

Go figure.
