(INTELLIHUB) — Dozens of City of New York police were videotaped breaching their sworn oaths during a peaceful assembly at City Hall Park on Friday.
Crowdsource the Truth founder Jason Goodman arrived at the scene with camera in hand and rolling ready to capture some action.
“Why is the park being closed?” Goodman asked aloud as the demeanor of the police began to change. “Why is the park being closed officers–why are we being disallowed to peacefully assemble?
A man dressed in plain-clothes gave his response to Goodman who appeared to be rather fired up at the time. The man told Goodman that the park was being closed “on orders from the governor” and said that assemblies were not allowed.
“Gatherings are prohibited by the governor’s orders, sir,” the plain-clothed man who soon after identified himself as a lieutenant explained. “It is true, look it up yourself.”
“Come on you know they were going to do that, to begin with,” one protester said with vindication after confidently predicting the authoritarian outcome in his own mind somewhat in advance.
To no surprise, over two dozen police were ready and willing to enforce Governor Andrew Cuomo’s unconstitutional order which bans assembly. The small standing army of officers appeared to be ready for war as they stood proud in a ready position at the park’s entrance.
“Wow!,” Goodman exclaimed. “Park closed… this is outrageous.”
“Welcome to the new United States of America,” he said. “Holy crap!”
